Naturalisation is the final and most significant step in the process of becoming a British citizen and obtaining a British passport. Requirements

Several conditions must be met to apply for Naturalisation. This is a key step in the process of obtaining a British passport, and there are a few requirements to fulfil. Completing a Naturalisation application may seem like a difficult process, however our team of experts are here to help you meet the requirements listed:

• You must pass the ‘Living in the United Kingdom' test.
• The English language requirement must have been met.
• For the previous 12 months, you must have had Indefinite Leave to Remain.
• You must meet the residency criteria, which require you to demonstrate 5 years of lawful presence in the United Kingdom. You cannot spend more than 450 days in the UK throughout these five years.

How long does it take?

After living in the UK for at least 5 years and having held Indefinite Leave to Remain for at least 12 months, British nationality can be achieved (6 years in total). If you are married to a British citizen, though, you will not have to wait the additional 12 months. Within 6 months mark, you should get a verdict on whether your Naturalization application has been granted; however, some applications may take longer.

Fees

• You have a British parent,
• Another sort of British nationality,
• You're stateless
• You have already relinquished your citizenship.
